The Shipping Coordinator is responsible for the management and execution of all elements of the Shipping and Logistics process at Airborne Engines.
The successful candidate will work independently to coordinate all inbound and outbound shipments and will collaborate with vendors, carriers, and internal teams to ensure timely deliveries.
You have experiential knowledge of Customs documentation, bilateral agreements, international duties and taxes, and shipping rate negotiations. However, this is also a hands-on role: you are responsible for the safe packaging, handling, and incoming inspection of all products leaving from and arriving at our facility.
Essential Knowledge:
- USMCA / North American Trade Agreement
- Correct application of Harmonized System (HS) codes and Incoterms to shipments
- Research and understand International Value Added Taxes (VAT), Duties, and export permits
- ATA Carnets and associated temporary export mechanisms
- Active interest in current events and their implications on our day-to-day Logistics activities
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate daily shipping and receiving operations to ensure timely and accurate delivery of goods
- Prepare shipping documents, including bills of lading, packing lists, customs forms, and declarations
- Negotiate or dispute undue Customs charges
- Work closely with our Customs Broker to resolve exceptions
- Negotiate freight rates and services
- Receive incoming shipments, inspect items for damage or discrepancies, and reconcile with purchase orders and Quality system requirements.
- Source and coordinate specialized shipments (large equipment, dangerous goods, etc.)
- Implement changes and efficiencies in packaging methodology and practices that optimize product safety while maintaining cost efficiency
- Track and analyze Shipping costs, developing new methods to reduce annual spend
- Resolve shipping exceptions, such as delays, damage, or lost shipments, quickly and effectively.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and applicable shipping regulations.
Additional Requirements:
- Excellent communication skills (oral & written)
- Excellent interpersonal skills, a can-do attitude, and able to work with minimal supervision
- Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint
- Motivated in continuous improvement
- Able to safely handle aircraft engine parts, including lifting 80 lbs
- Valid BC driver’s license, own vehicle an asset
Education and Training
- A high school diploma or equivalent, as well as a certificate or degree in supply chain, logistics, or a related field, is preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in logistics, shipping/receiving, or warehouse operations.
- Strong knowledge of shipping processes, freight carriers, and transportation logistics.
- Dangerous Goods (DG) certification an asset
- Valid Forklift license
- Human Factors and WHIMIS familiarity (additional or familiarization training is offered)
